A Personal Message from Bridget Phillipson MP: A Commitment to Support Children with Dyslexia and SEND

We are thrilled to share that 1 in 10 Dyslexia has received a personal response from The Rt Hon Bridget Phillipson MP, Secretary of State for Education. This recognition underscores the importance of our mission to support children and young people with dyslexia and other special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

A Message of Commitment and Collaboration

In her message, Bridget Phillipson MP highlighted the government's dedication to ensuring that all children and young people with SEND or in alternative provision receive the right support to succeed in their education and as they transition into adult life. This commitment extends to improving inclusion and fostering expertise within mainstream schools.

"This government’s ambition is that all children and young people with SEND or in alternative provision receive the right support to succeed in their education and as they move into adult life. We are committed to improving inclusion and expertise in mainstream schools."

The emphasis on early identification of needs and providing timely support is a critical element in improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND, including those with dyslexia. By identifying needs early, we can help pave the way for brighter futures and empower children with the tools they need to thrive.

A Call for Collaboration

Bridget Phillipson MP also underscored the importance of collaboration between the government, schools, and organizations like 1 in 10 Dyslexia. The mission to improve inclusion and support for children with SEND is one that cannot be accomplished by the government alone. It requires a collective effort, with each of us playing a crucial role in delivering positive outcomes.

"The government cannot do it alone — we will work with the sector as essential and valued partners to deliver our shared mission, and I want to renew the trust and respect we hold for each other."

This message is a powerful reminder that by working together, we can achieve our shared goals of inclusivity, understanding, and success for all children. At 1 in 10 Dyslexia, we are committed to being an essential partner in this journey, advocating for the needs of children with dyslexia and working alongside educators, parents, and policymakers to create meaningful change.

Moving Forward Together

We are excited about the future and the opportunity to collaborate with the government and other stakeholders to enhance support for children with dyslexia. Together, we can build a more inclusive education system that recognizes and nurtures the potential of every child.

Let’s keep the momentum going and continue to advocate for early identification, effective support, and greater inclusion for all children with SEND. We are inspired by Bridget Phillipson MP’s message and look forward to working together to make our shared vision a reality.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Your support is invaluable as we strive to make a difference in the lives of children with dyslexia and SEND. Let’s continue to build trust, respect, and collaboration as we work towards our mission of inclusion and success for all.

Stay tuned for more updates and opportunities to get involved!
